The Twister Game In 2002 the Unit built a giant Twister game for a Cub day out. The board was built from 100, 12" square tiles with a hole in the middle, each tile was painted one of 4 colours. The hole in the middle was so that the tile could be pegged into the grass (using cheap bolts). They tried a traditional twister game, where the last person to fall over wins, but this took too long and it was difficult to check which of the cubs were out each time. The rules were modified. Using 5 cubs at a time they had to race from one side of the board to the other without putting the a hand or foot on the wrong square. The caller / Leader had a twister spinner and called out which limb to move and to where (example - LEFT FOOT to RED), the players have to move as instructed. Using only the limbs and colour specified they had to try to cross the board. Notes If the were told to move a limb to a colour it was all ready on, they had to move to a different square. The Squares were set out in a 10 x 10 square grid To start the game the players were standing along the edge of the board and moved only as instructed It is easier to see who is not right - they should all have the same limbs on the same colours If a player falls, or puts the wrong limb on the wrong colour you can tell him to correct themselves or send them back to the beginning Smaller Cubs and larger cubs did equally well |
