It is possible to buy lunch en-route for a lot of the days. Basic lunch is Bread or bread buns Cheese Spread (in a tube - Primula or similar), can't carry margarine or butter in case it melts in the heat Meat slices Cake Biscuits Dinners Friday - Buy on way to Milngavie Saturday - Stir Fry, Rice or noodles Sunday - Stew or Beef Stroganof Monday - Pasta in tomato sauce, added sausage or ham Tuesday - Bolognase Wednesday - The Spicey One (If you don't know you have missed out a treat) Thursday - Pasta in tomato sauce, added sausage or ham Friday - Bangers, Mash, Beans and Gravy Saturday - Meal out in Fort William Suppers Cup a soup, bread rolls, etc Extra Bits A box's of herbs, chillies and spices, Lee & Perrins just to add a bit of flavour. Now the reality Food on the way to Milngavie we bought OK, as with dinner on Fort William The rest of the food was bought en-route and varied from the plan. Or is difficult to get everything in a small spar shop at 5:30 on a wet Wednesday evening so be prepared to improvise, but make sure that all are OK with the food. At the Green Wellie Stop Cafe we bought loads of Pasta 'n Sauce since that was all they had. At the Kingshouse we bought the following days lunch in the pub. It came warmed and wrapped up, but the warmed was no good since it was 18 hours till we ate it. Stopping in a cafe for a break is a good stop to have, bacon and egg rolls first thing in the afternoon can't be beaten. If you ask the Spicey One wasn't quite what we were used to but we added extra chillies and that killed the taste! |
