Riverside Safety Code 1. If you see anyone in difficulty in open water, dial 999 and ask for the emergency devices 2. Don't swim unless you know it is safe 3. Don't throw rubbish into water 4. Always walk down steps or ramps to water - don't run 5. Always make sure you get off the foreshore quickly 6. Always wear shoes or boots on the foreshore 7. Beware of muddy areas 8. Alcohol, Drugs and water don't mix (SP Note: A large proportion of drowned men have had a drink and fallen overboard at night when they are peeing over the side of a boat after drinking) 9. Report vandalised notices, lifebelts and barriers to the police 10. Cover cuts, scratches or broken skin with a waterproof plaster before entering water (Note that there is a disease, Weils disease carried in water by Rat wee, and it can kill you) |
