You may meet vehicles, horses and walkers on them Public Footpaths No right of ways exists for Cyclists here. Scotland doesn't have rights of way Other Access Open Land On most upland, moorland or farmland, there is no right of access without permission of the landowner Towpaths A British Waterways permit is required to cycle on a towpath Pavements Not permitted Designated Cycle Paths Look out for these in Urban area, forestry commission land and other places General Information - Follow the Highway Code - Ensure your bike is safe to ride and be prepared for all emergencies - Always carry some form of identification - Always tell someone where you are going - Learn the basic principles of First Aid - Wear reflective materials on your clothes - it could save your life - Ride under control downhill, this is where serious accident occur - Wear a helmet. This is a requirement if you are cycling on a Scout activity (and good advice anyway - a car can easily crush a skull, no contest between the 2, car wins, skull looses)(This also is true for parents you know) - Take care on wet or unstable surfaces |
