MacDonald's Nutrient Information
I am listing the top few in each of these cos there are loads on the list I have.
MacDonald’s was seen as an indicator of costs around the world, the more a Big Mac cost the more expensive the country. Using a similar approach I am comparing foods with MacDonald’s meals. Here is information published by them and can be found on their website: Nutrient Information. Nothing wrong with eating a few burgers, just so long as you aren’t eating these few Burgers each day for Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner. To keep things even, other fast food chains, like Burger King also publish their nutrient information.
What has the most energy per 100g at MacD's? (Big Mac: 953 kj)
At 2005kj per 100g its: McMini Cadbury Bite - A cake, hooray, eat it now and lots of it.
Cadbury Chocolate Donut has 1826kj (but spells doughnut incorrectly)
Birthday cake: 1705kj
Hot Chocolate: 1614kj - a surprise since its mostly hot water
McMini Cadbury Chocolate Donut: 1570 and still badly spelt
Cappuccino: 1529
Latte: 1523
A surprise there - sweet stuff and milky drinks thrash a big Mac for the energy they contain. Eat cakes for lots of energy.
Out of burgers Bacon McDouble with cheese is the top with 1105, narrowly beaten by fries with 1108 per 100g.
A big Mac meal should give you 4000kj.
The bottom contenders are Diet Coke with 1.5kj, Robinson's Fruit Shoot with 20 and Garden Side Salad without dressing with 62kj per 100g. Avoid salads and diet foods if you want the energy to live.
Top 5 Protein givers? (Big Mac 12.4g per 100g)
Cappuccino at 22.4g per 100g - a Surprise here, even more than a burger
Latte at 22.3g per 100g - What do they put in coffee. I use a bit of milk, some hot water and some beans from a tree. They must use raw steak!
Bacon McDouble With Cheese has 16.1g per 100g
Double Bacon and Egg McMuffin has 15.8 per 100g
Quarterpounder with cheese has 15.1g per 100g
I would eat a Bacon McDouble with cheese and a cappuccino to give the maximum protein for its weight.
A big Mac meal would give you 30.9g of protein This is just a bit more than the Bacon McDouble With
Cheese on its own.
The lowest protein is soft drinks with 0 (coke, fanta etc), and the garden salad you eat in bed, without dressing with 0.8g per 100g. Don't eat these,
they're useless. And Green. And Salad. Never eat them
Top 5 Carbohydrate Useful for energy that isn't fat. (Big Mac has 20.5g per 100g)
A big Mac gets trounced again by a cake! Birthday cake gives 65.4g per 100g. Hooray for birthdays
In fact cakes are the best for carbohydrates. Other notable foods are:
Buttered Muffin and Preserve with 48.1 but that is really a cake that you can buy before 10:30
Sweet and Sour dip has 43.5g per 100g but you wouldn't want to eat it.
Proper Food:
Fries (36.3), Cheeseburger (27.2), Fillet o Fish (25.2), Quorn Premier (24.2, the veggie makes an appearance) then Big Mac (20.5)
Lowest and so shouldn't be eaten is Diet drinks and salads.
Aha, now we get to the good one. Fats per 100g. This info came for MacD's so it might not be completely true - add 10% extra. (Big Mac: 10.7g per 100g)
The cakes win again! McMini Cadbury bite (with 20.7g fat per 100g), then Large Cadbury Chocolate Donut (20.5 and still badly spelt), Mini donut then apple pie and birthday cake are next.
Other foods:
Double Sausage and Egg McMuffin (has 16.4g fat per 100g)
Double Bacon and Egg McMuffin (has 14.9g)
Then we return to Cappuccino (14.4) and Latte Coffee (14.3). What do they make these with. I put no lard in my coffee.
Burger wise you would do well getting a quarter pounder with cheese (13.0g fat per 100g)
Chips have 11.5g, though I have eaten ones with much more fat the numbers for this are mixed up and I think it
should read 51.1g
Big Mac Meal has 35.7g of fat in it
Next to last is Fibre. This makes you poo and is good, though badly cooked food will also do this. Big Mac has 2.7g per 100g.
Here chips redeem themselves. They have 3.6g per 100g. Fibre doesn't rate highly in MacD's food. Most of the rest of the food has less then 2g per 100g fibre which is quite bad. And the cakes don't even help here so I am not going to do fibre in case the salads win.
Salt (big Mac 1g per 100g)
Tomato Ketchup wins here with 2.75g per 100g. MacD's will give you extra salt if you want it so I am not going to list these either - if you want loads of salt you can ask for it. Salt is bad for you and you get all you need in a day anyway. They add it to chips to make you feel thirsty so you buy bigger drinks and spend more. You spend more, they make more money. Chips are meant to have 0.51g salt per 100g, I am sure that is true....
I noticed that the veggie options didn't figure here much, I don't know why.
